Accessible Hawk Modifications

Planning, building and prototype testing is well underway to fit a steering servo to one of the Hawks. This is a first step in trying to make these boats accessible to a wider range of participants. We're mounting a rudder servo controlled by a joystick similar to the system used on the Liberty dinghies and also adapting the boat so it can take a more supporting seat. We hope that if successful we could also use the system on the Martin 16. These boats will still require a crew to help with jib and main sheet control just as would be the case with an able bodied helm. We'll keep you updated on our progress and don't forget to look out for the Hawk river and coastal trips.
